The first “WP killer”: real software, not a template.
jnrroofmaintenance.com used to run on WordPress. We rebuilt it as a fully custom Node application — no plugins, no theme, no page-builder bloat — with a real self-service editor built in, so the owner runs the site himself instead of waiting on an agency.
The first site we replaced WordPress with, entirely
JNR Industries’ old site ran on WordPress like most small-business sites do — a theme, a stack of plugins, and a page builder holding it together. We replaced all of it with a fully custom-built, zero-CMS-dependency Node application. No plugins to go out of date, no theme to break on the next update, no page-builder bloat slowing it down. It's proof that a small local-business site doesn't need WordPress to compete — it can run on real software instead, built and owned outright.
Every edit the owner makes is safe, forever
The one thing that kills a self-service site is a future update quietly overwriting what the owner wrote. This one doesn't allow it. Every wording change the owner makes is tracked, timestamped, and visually flagged in the editor so it can never be silently overwritten later — and we verified it end-to-end: every edit Jesse has ever made is still exactly as he left it.
- Every wording change is tracked, timestamped, and visually flagged
- A permanent, restorable history of every change — wording and photos both
- A visual before/after on every entry, with one-click undo
- Nothing is ever silently overwritten by a future update
Tracked & flagged edits
Every text change the owner makes is logged the moment it happens, with a visible marker in the editor showing exactly what he changed.
Permanent, restorable history
Every wording edit and every photo swap is logged forever with a visual before/after and one-click undo. Nothing is ever truly lost.
Every image on the site is the owner's actual work
His crew, his trucks, his job sites — nothing generic. It's a small detail that matters: a roof-cleaning site full of stock photography reads as a template, and JNR's doesn't have one stock image on it.
Four tools that put the owner in control
The whole point of a real Site Editor is that the owner never has to wait on us for a text change, a photo swap, or a small request — and never has to guess whether something bigger got lost in an email.
Real Site Editor
Click into any text on any page and edit it directly, live — no code, no agency request, no waiting on a ticket queue.
Click-to-replace Image Editor
Click almost any photo on the site — every one except the hero banners — and swap it instantly, uploading a new one or picking from photos already on the site.
Built-in Feedback tool
For anything beyond a text or photo swap — a new section, a layout change — the owner drops a pin directly on the page and leaves a note. No separate ticketing system, no lost-in-email requests.
Live, plain-English Changelog
A running, transparent log of every change made to the site and when, so the owner always knows exactly what's happened and why.

What Jesse says
“I don't have to advertise in the phone book anymore – if only they would let me cancel. I am #1 on Google for Portland Oregon Roof Cleaning and my primary website is even better.”
The owner runs the site himself now
Add it up — the Site Editor, the Image Editor, the Feedback tool, the Changelog, the permanent History — and it's one thing: JNR Industries owns and operates its own site independently, with NW eSource only a click away for anything bigger. That's what a rebuild should do. Not hand over a nicer WordPress site. Replace the whole dependency.
